Žan Pirman
I am, more than anything, an enthusiast. A curious mind that explores and and always questions. Whether I am observing a physical place, designing a digital one, writing, photographing, traveling, or just sitting still, I am always interested in how places adapt to human presence and how, in turn, a human being adapts to a certain place.
For me, observing the world, seeing it, and thinking about it is just as important as forming it. I treat architecture, design, and visual culture not as final, permanent products, but as an ongoing process of spatial research, as well as a constant exploration of the inner self. I believe that every project, every photograph, every design, and every thought has the tendency and beauty to evolve and become something else. And with it, the person who creates it.
References
I have studied architecture at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Ljubljana, and at the Faculty of Design Sciences, University of Antwerp. Currently, I am expanding my professional experience as an Architectural intern at Henning Larsen in Copenhagen.
Alongside academic work, I gained experience through collaborations with SVET VMES, Sadar+Vuga, Studio Sadar, and Triiije Architects. I contributed to various exhibition designs and have also worked as a student assistant at the Faculty of Architecture, where I was involved in tutoring, architectural design, and software-based lessons within Digital Methods and Presentations.
My work has been recognized in both national and international competitions, including the Vurnik Student Award 2026, Finalist Award in the TerraViva Ruins+ Competition and Honorable Mention in the YAC Moramanga Church Competition. I also contributed to the winning proposal by SVET VMES, which received First Prize in the ZAPS Architectural Competition for the Cultural Centre and Library Šenčur. Additionally, I have presented my work at conferences including Piran Days of Architecture in Portorož and Architecture Inventory at Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana.
