Re:Coop
The chicken coop is not merely a utilitarian object at the edge of the yard. For the chicken, it represents a home, a playground, and a shelter. Between the enclosed and the open, it creates a balance between safety and freedom. At the same time, it is an architecture that carries the potential to become the central space of the courtyard.
A coop in the wall
A rammed earth wall, as the primary element, forms the service spine of the coop while also providing shelter – both metaphorically and physically. Within the wall, like a lodged nest, sits a box-like enclosed coop, protected by a skeletal wooden structure intended for the outdoor run. The new coop is designed for 10 chicken and, due to its modular construction and linear layout, allows the possibility of future expansion.
